What should be the Tyre size of the Motor vehicle?
It is observed that youngsters are putting broad size tyres in their vehicles for the reasons known to all. The tyre size should be as prescribed under Rule 95 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. For motor vehicles the specification of the tyre should meet the requirement as prescribed under IS code: 15633-2005 of BIS otherwise the claim may be repudiated. The auto manufacturers also recommend the size of the tyres to be used in the vehicle therefore, the same size to be followed. Live example: A swift desire is having the tyre size of 17” and met with 5 accidents within 7 months as on applying brakes the car could not stop at red light and hit the vehicle in front of him. It happens five times and insurer is repudiating the claim for the reason tyre is not as per prescription of the Auto manufacturer. So be careful while insuring such vehicles.
